Ready to Spring Ahead!!!

I don't know about you, but all this cold weather is making me long for the beautiful Spring sunshine I know is right around the corner.  To cheer myself up I went to Shoes on a Shoestring to look at the lovely Spring shoes that are already lining the shelves.  One in particular caught my eye......

Chinese Laundry has always been one of my favorite brands and when I saw this shoe I fell in love.  This cork wedge from the CL division of the company is featured with an all over silky organza floral sheer gauze and a fabulous ruched bow at the toe.  One of the buyers at SOAS, Saundra Thompson, said to look for lots of organza this season along with cork wedges, and that could not make me happier.  These shoes have a pricepoint of around $45 which makes them fabulous AND affordable.  After trying them on I realized they are fashoinable and comfy, which is always a good combo.  On my shoe meter, five being the best, I give these shoes a 4 and a half!!!

Toni & Guy Design Team Challenge

I had the privilege of hosting an exciting event last night, The Toni & Guy Design Team Challenge.  Students compete in make-up and hairstyling categories for a chance to be on the prestigious Design Team all while using non-traditional items.

Tony & Guy are known for their super talented students and out of the box creations, but this event topped them all.  There was so much creavtivity in the room it blew me away!! Students were given minimal make-up to create 3 looks: Bridal, Pin-up, and Avant Garde.  After the make-up round was done it was time for the hair!!  Using items such as aluminum foil, pipe cleaners, and toilet paper rolls, students had to create the perfect look to assure a place on the Desisgn Team. 

There were feathers, flowers, and bows.  Five celebrity make-up artists and stylists were on hand to judge, including Karla from Klaine Make Up, Ashlynne Padilla, and Gerhardt from Heart & Soul in Nob Hill.  In the end, everyone walked away a winner, knowing they created original works of art in the form of hair and make-up.

Searching for the Perfect Workout Shoe....

So I finally started to plan my workout routine for 2013.  I would like to try my hand at an LA Boxing class since I love to kickbox.  But I would also love to do a little water aerobics at the Aquatic Center in Rio Rancho.  My problem, despite all of my shoes, I don't have the right sneakers.  So I made my way to Shoes On A Shoestring to find what I needed.  I tried on a lot of sneakers, but I did find one I loved and they had just what I needed.  It was the Ryka brand, this is also the sneaker Kelly Ripa endorses so I knew I made a good choice.  Turns out, the reason why these sneakers are so comfy is because women have been designing them from day one.

I am also considering going back for the Dash Fitness Walker, and with a price point of around $70 I won't break the bank.  Now wish me luck on the workouts!!

Sparkly Ruby Red Shoes!!!

I tried these shoes on and I have to say they are super comfy.  The heel is about 3 inches so if you are not used to wearing heels you really shouldn't have a problem.  Of course they are perfect for a night out paired with a Little Black Dress.  They will provide a definate pop of color to your feet.  But might I suggest  going out of your comfort zone and wearing them to work.  I promise you, with a blouse and skirt, people will take notice of these shoes and will want to know where you bought them so they can get a pair of their very own.
